I have done plenty of hikes around the world during my travels, though I have never tried trekking. In October 2019, I took the most spontaneous trip with a friend to do trekking in Nepal.

After a lot of research, I decided to do Poon Hill Trek, as I only had two weeks in Nepal.

Poon Hill Trek is perfect trekking if you are traveling within a limited time. This trek can be done within five days maximum, however, it all depends on your fitness level. Also, there are no possibility to get lost up in the mountains, as the route is guided well back to the city Pokhara.

This Trek starts from Nayapul, where there are checkpoints as well. There will be small shops from the beginning of the journey, therefore if you require anything for your journey, it is the perfect time to buy from these shops.

As the trek begins you should be mentally and physically ready for it, as it will be quiet challenging as you climb up to the top of Poon Hill.

However, if you know why are you doing this trek and if you have great company along your side, you will enjoy this trek. You must be open to communicating with the people that you will meet during the trekking period. Good news its that it is completely safe, nothing to worry about, plus Nepalese are super friendly and kind.

The most important part of trekking is to ensure that before it gets dark you find a place to stay for the night. The rooms you will find up in the mountains are low-budget rooms, so be open to lower your standards and enjoy the minimal life by connecting your soul with mother nature to a deeper level.

Once you reach Poon Hill, you can go further up to Mohara Danda, where you can have even a better view of the Annapurna Mountain Ranges. Also, the Mohara Danda stop is a great place where you can stay for a day and rest from all the climbing, meditate before descending to end the trek.

I believe trekking is essential for everyone at least once in their lifetime, even for a short trek, you will reveal a lot about yourself and you will evolve mentally and physically as the undefined person you knew before you started the trek. The norms and the beauty of trekking are only known just by experiencing itself.

Stay Tuned for Chapter 2.
